Altimo is one of the largest international investment companies acting in the field of mobile and fixed-line telecommunications, holding a leading position on the telecommunications markets of Europe, Asia and Africa. (traded on NYSE, symbol: VIP) and MegaFon. Also, Altimo manages Alfa Group Consortium's investment in Turkcell, a leading GSM operator in Turkey (traded on NYSE and Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB)).
In October 2009, Telenor ASA and Altimo announced an agreement to combine their common assets in VimpelCom and Kyivstar to create a leading emerging markets mobile operator, VimpelCom Ltd.
In April 2011, VimpelCom Ltd. merged with Wind Telecom S.p.A. creating the sixth largest mobile telecommunications carrier by subscribers in the world.

VimpelCom Ltd. provides voice and data services through a range of wireless, fixed and broadband technologies. VimpelCom Ltd. is headquartered in Amsterdam and has operations in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Algeria, Bangladesh, Canada, Italy, Pakistan, Burundi, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Central African Republic covering territory with a total population of about 843 million with over 181 mln subscribers. VimpelCom Ltd. operating companies provide services under the "Beeline", "Kyivstar", "Djuice", "Wind", "Infostrada", "Mobilink", "Leo", "Banglalink", "Telecel" and "Djezzy" brands. VimpelCom Ltd. is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "VIP". As of 31 December 2010, Altimo owned 44.65% of the voting shares of VimpelCom Ltd. (since June 2011 - 24.99%).
MegaFon
MegaFon is one of the largest providers of wireless telecommunications services in Russia. MegaFon's subscriber base by the end of 2010 exceeded 57 mln people. Diversity of services is one of the main competitive advantages of MegaFon. Subscribers of networks in Moscow and St. Petersburg actively use a number of non-voice services based on STK (SIM Tool Kit), LBS (Location Based Services) and MMS (Multimedia Services). The experience in the field of new services development and introduction that has been acquired in Moscow and North-West markets will be used in other regions.
Turkcell
With 60 million subscribers (including Fintur, Astelit and BeST) as of December 2010, Turkcell not only stands as Turkey's leading operator but also enjoys the proud status of being the third largest GSM operator in Europe. Turkcell is the first Turkish company to be listed on NYSE and also trades on Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB).
