Richard Ames is Recognized as One of the Top 20 IT Leaders in Russia 09 Mar 2005
Richard Ames, TNK-BP Vice-President for IT, is recognized as one of the Top 20 IT Leaders in Russia (7th place). The Rating Agency of the Managers Association has done a great job identifying the most professional managers, leaders in their industries and functions.
Richard Ames has a BSc. degree in Geology with honors (Duke University, US) and a MSc. degree in Geology (University of Georgia, US).
In the 1980s, he served in a variety of exploration, production and operating roles in the US and internationally, living in New Orleans, Houston and The Hague. In 1990, Mr. Ames started working on Russia and the FSU, evaluating exploration and production opportunities on the Yamal Peninsula, West Siberia and the Caspian Sea. Based in Moscow from 1994 until 1997, he was responsible for Amoco’s Upstream Business Development.
Returning to Houston in 1997, Mr. Ames was appointed Vice President of Amoco Eurasia Petroleum Company and was responsible for Amoco’s Upstream projects in Russia and Kazakhstan. Following the BP Amoco merger, Mr. Ames served as Director of Information Technology (IT) for BP Alaska and Director of Projects for BP’s worldwide IT organization.
In 2002, Mr. Ames returned to Moscow when he was appointed Vice President and CIO of Sidanco. After leading the IT integration activities of TNK, Sidanco and BP, he was appointed Vice President and CIO of TNK-BP in 2003.
