Correction in The Banker Top 1,000 World Banks verifying where Alfa Bank should have been in the listing. Alfa Bank's ranking in Russia would have been 7th and world ranking is 635th
08 Jul 2003

Alfa Bank's Tier One Capital figure should have been $362m and not the $262m quoted. Therefore Alfa Bank's ranking in Russia would have been 7th moving above Globexbank and Bank of Moscow and world ranking is 635th. According to Alice Partridge, Deputy Research Editor at The Banker, "The odd mistake is made and we take full responsibility". The Banker will publish a correction in August issue verifying where Alfa Bank should have been in the listing.

Alfa-Bank Russia

Alfa-Bank, founded in 1990, has developed rapidly to become one of Russia's largest privately owned banks. It provides a full range of banking services — corporate banking, retail banking, investment banking, asset management and trade finance. The Bank has 229 branches over nine time zones in Russia, Kazakhstan and the Netherlands and subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and the United States.
