Speaking on optimising interbank relationship in Russia N. Orlova noted that after the banking mini-crisis last summer the interbank market remains very segmented despite the interbank rates already declined. "The interbank market volume should be increased with the help of the CBR which is now elaborating measures to enlarge the list of refinancing instruments for the banking community." Adam Smith Institute conference key note speakers included Andrey Kazmin, President & Chairman of the Board, Sberbank of Russia, Alexander Shokhin, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Renaissance Capital, Nataly Nikolaeva, Vice President for Government Relations, Citibank. The conference focused on such specific areas as retail banking, creating a viable mortgage system, consumer lending, developing the insurance market, the future of pension services and wealth management.
