Fall Presents from TNK-BP 07 Sep 2005
Receiving presents is a pleasure, and so is giving presents. Residents of Udmurtia received remarkable presents from TNK-BP to the Oilman Day professional holiday and the second anniversary of the Company.
TNK-BP presented Votkinsk City Hospital No. 1 with unique new equipment for performing operations without a scalpel.
Evgeny Barsikya, Head of the Surgery Department, is delighted with the new equipment. The endoscopic stand purchased by TNK-BP for the hospital is a complex system consisting of special surgical instruments, a video camera, a monitor, etc. Just a few years ago, having such equipment for performing endoscopic operations was the privilege of Moscow and Saint Petersburg only.
“Now we too can make surgical operations using up-to-date high-tech medical technologies. Our surgeons have been trained and licensed in Kazan, and very soon we will start performing operation,” says Evgeny Levanovich proudly.
The advantage of the new equipment is that it minimizes injuries during surgical operations and reduces the rehabilitation period.
Alexander Volkov, President of the Republic of Udmurtia, highly appreciated the present and thanked the oilmen for their generous contribution to the development of health services in the republic. The new medical equipment for the Votkinsk city hospital is another important step in the implementation of a comprehensive program for supporting the health care facilities of the republic, for which the Company has allocated 10 million rubles in 2005.
The special “School Bus” program is underway in the republic for the second year now. TNK-BP purchased five school buses last year and ten buses this year for 4.5 million rubles.
Just before the Day of Knowledge, seven new school buses were presented to the children of Udmurtia. “To children from oilmen” is written on each of these yellow buses with the TNK-BP logo on it. These beautiful and long-awaited presents were given on the opening day of the new school year to the Kotegura secondary school of the Debessk District, the residential school in the Fakel settlement of the Igrinsk District, the Republican Children’s Home, and other schools of the republic.
Says Alexander Mashenin, Director of the Republican Children’s Home: “We have nice relations with TNK-BP. Beginning from 2004, oilmen help us purchase clothes, footwear, and furniture for our children. Now we have got a new bus. This is a great present for the children that lack contacts with the outer world. From now on, we will be able to take our children to excursions in and outside the city, to theaters, movies, and the circus.”
By the way, the Izhevsk circus is one of the best in Russia. From its very inception in 2003, the main heroes of performances in the first days of September are first-graders. The first school day must be a memorable holiday for every child and one of the brightest and jolliest days their lives. For three consecutive years now, all first-graders of Udmurtia receive an invitation to the circus. Children from all parts of the republic come to the Izhevsk circus. This year, more than 20,000 first-graders will attend performances between September 5 and 10. Children will see clowns, acrobats, and gymnasts and receive sweet prizes and presents. These activities are supported by TNK-BP and its charitable fund Rodnikovyi Krai (Land of Springs).
Five new sports centers for children (with a total cost of approximately 2 million rubles) have been constructed in the republic thanks to TNK-BP. Different child—developing structures designed by the company Mir Vashemu Domu (Peace to Your Home) have been installed in the Menil school the Igrinsk Distrcit, child day care center in the Sigayevo settlement, living quarters in Karakulino, Novyi settlement of the Votkinsk District, and Molodezhnaya stree in Izhevsk. Children will enjoy them. The structures are very different: the proud sailboat Varyag, the romantic Castle Door, swing sets, seesaws, sandboxes, crossbars, and many other things for children. Traditionally, oilmen make presents to their on their fellow countrymen on their professional holiday.
TNK-BP will transfer 60 million rubles in 2005 for financing important social projects at the republican level within the framework of the long-term cooperation agreement signed by the Administration of the republic of Udmurtia and TNK-BP. According to Alexander Volkov, President of the Republic of Udmurtia, TNK-BP has become a reliable and responsible partner of the region. The Company fulfills all its commitments in due time and full measure and helps maintain social stability in the republic.
