06 Sep 2007

MegaFon opened roaming on the territory of Chechen Republic for all its subscribers.

Now, when there is roaming in Chechnya, all 86 regions of the license territory of pan-Russian operator are included into MegaFon intranetwork roaming zone. Call cost in roaming, which is activated automatically, does not differ from cost of communications in any other RF region and is 9 rubles per minute.

The service of national roaming was launched in the Republic by stages: starting from February this year subscribers of "MegaFon-North Caucasus" could use it and from September 2007 it became available for all subscribers of pan-Russian MegaFon.

"MegaFon" network in Chechnya started to provide services to commercial subscribers three years ago, in August 2004. About 400 base stations were installed and they provide reliable communications of good quality at more than 80% of territory of the Republic, including high-mountain areas where there are no fixed communications. At the moment the number of MegaFon subscribers in Chechnya is about 550 thousand people.
