TNK-BP Appoints New General Tax Counsel

TNK-BP today announced the appointment of Evgeny Astakhov to the position of General Tax Counsel for the TNK-BP group of companies, with effect from July 5 2004. Evgeny comes to TNK-BP from Ernst and Young where he was tax partner in the Moscow office and Head of the International Tax Planning Department for Ernst and Young's practice in Russia and the CIS. Prior to joining Ernst and Young he was tax partner with the law firm Baker and McKenzie, working in their St. Petersburg, Chicago and Moscow offices. Evgeny holds a Law Degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and a Master of Laws in International Tax from New York University.
