Alfa-Bank has appointed Ronald Smith as Head of Research
30 Mar 2006

Ronald Smith has been appointed as the Head of Research of Alfa-Bank. The Bank’s Fixed Income and Equity research team forms the core of its expertise in monitoring current developments and valuating investment opportunities in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

«We are delighted to welcome Ron as our new head of research. Russia is developing swiftly and opens tremendous opportunities. Russian companies are becoming full-fledged participants of global economic processes and capital markets. As Alfa Bank’s business has grown, the role of our research department has also expanded to cover more diverse sectors, neighbouring markets like Ukraine and Kazakhstan, and new areas such as credit and derivative analysis. In addition to leading our twenty-strong team of analysts, Ron will be focused on deepening our relationship with clients, both within Russia and abroad», — says Dominic Gualtieri, Managing Director and Head of Equities, Alfa-Bank.

Before joining Alfa Bank, R. Smith worked at ING Bank (Eurasia) as Director and Head of Moscow Research. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Renaissance Capital (Moscow), Citigroup Asset Management (Stamford, Connecticut). Mr Smith holds an MBA from the University of Texas and an MA on Political Science from Texas A&M University.
