28 Mar 2005

TNK-BP has been named winner of the Russian Press Favor Award (Simpre), marking the third time it has won the Socially Responsible Business competition. Viktor Vekselberg, TNK-BP Executive Director for Gas Development, received the award during a March 24 ceremony in Moscow.

The Simpre award is regularly presented at the annual “Golden Gong”   professional journalism contest “to outstanding leaders and organizations that have influenced public opinion development in Russia for the previous year and have won the favor of Russian journalists. The winners were determined on the basis of a poll of representatives from 100 central and regional information agencies, newspapers and journals.

At the ceremony, Vekselberg thanked the mass media representatives for the high evaluation of his activities as well as those of TNK-BP as a whole, and pointed out that “particular attention paid to TNK-BP by the Russian press reflected the Company’s distinguished place in the Russian business community.”

In addition, the TNK-BP Corporate TV program “Oil Formula” won the 2004 Golden Gong contest in the Regional Media Project of the Year division.

The contest has been held since 1994 and is the key professional contest for national and regional journalists. This year, more 1,000 submissions from 54 Russian regions were evaluated by a panel composed of journalists and leaders of Russian editions.

Last year, the TNK-BP Your Company newsletter won the2003 Golden Gong award in the Best Corporate publication.
