Johann Jonach and Alexey Savchenko appointed to the Supervisory Board of Alfa-Bank Ukraine 25 Mar 2009
On March 25 2009, a meeting of the shareholders of Alfa-Bank Ukraine changed the composition of the Bank’s Supervisory Board, according to agenda. Shareholders added Johann Jonach, head of the Alfa-Banking group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa-Bank Russia, and Alexey Savchenko, Director of Strategic Planning Department of Alfa Group Consortium, to the Board. In 2008, Johann Jonach was in charge of corporate headquarters for the Alfa-Banking group. The corporate headquarters of Alfa-Banking group's emerged with the further expansion of the banking holding and now includes Alfa-Bank Russia, Alfa-Bank Ukraine, Alfa-Bank Kazakhstan, Amsterdam Trade Bank N.V., and the International Trade and Investment Bank (Mezhtorgbank, Belarus). The management structure of these banks remains unaffected and executive functions remain with the Boards of Directors of the banks.
According to Roman Shpek, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Alfa-Bank Ukraine, introducing well-regarded professional bankers to the Bank's Supervisory Board should strengthen not only Alfa-Bank Ukraine's leadership position, but also partnerly relations among the Group’s banks. Corporate headquarters are charged with: coordinating the expansion of the Alfa-Group Consortium’s banking business, including the acquisition of other banks; coordinating the Group’s efforts to raise debt capital on international capital markets; and standardizing approaches to risk, IT and HR management. Johann Jonach graduated from the Economics University in Vienna majoring in commerce, with a Master’s in social and economic studies. Before joining Alfa-Bank Russia, Mr. Jonach was Chairman of the Management Board of Raiffeisenbank Russia . From 2003 to 2006, he was Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Raiffeisenbank Ukraine . Over 2000-2002, Mr. Jonach was Chairman of the Management Board of Raiffeisen Bank Bulgaria . In 1999, Mr. Jonach joined the Management Board of Raiffeisenbank Ukraine . From 1997 to 1999, Johann Jonach was President of Alfa-Capital (Ukraine ). From 1990 to 1995, he headed the CIS representative office of Raiffeisen Zentralbank (RZB) and managed the representative office in Moscow .
Alexey Savchenko holds degrees and diplomas from IMD, a Lausanne-based business school (Switzerland), the Faculty of Science at Wayne State University (Detroit, USA), and the Department of Chemistry at Lomonosov State University of Moscow (Russia). In mid-2008, Mr. Savchenko was appointed Strategic Planning Director of CTF Consultancy Ltd., which is part of Alfa Group corporate headquarters. Over 1997–2005, he worked for various European offices of The Boston Consulting Group (Frankfurt, Moscow , London , Paris, Warsaw , Munich ). Mr. Savchenko’s responsibilities included partnering prominent international and Eastern European banks, insurance and investment companies, and companies operating in other sectors, with a focus on such issues as business development, marketing, corporate governance, and streamlined corporate structures. From 2006 through 2008, Mr. Savchenko was Director for strategy and institutional development and Executive Director at the RDI Group, managing real estate in Moscow and the Moscow region. Mr. Savchenko is also a member of the Board of Directors of Alfa-Bank (Kazakhstan ) and TNK-ÂÐ Holding (Russia ).
