Altimo Appoints Former New Zealand Prime Minister and Director General of the WTO to International Advisory Board

Altimo, the leading international telecoms investment group, is pleased to announce the appointment of The Right Honourable Michael (‘Mike’) Moore to the International Advisory Board (‘IAB’), a non-executive consultative group which advises Altimo on the strategic issues of the company’s global development.

Mike Moore is a former Prime Minister of New Zealand and Director-General of the World Trade Organization. He has served as the President of the Altimo Foundation for more than 2 years and he will retain this position going forward.

Lord Hurd is retiring from the Board after four years’ service following a period of ill health.

Alexey Reznikovich, Chief Executive Officer of Altimo, said “We appreciate Lord Hurd’s valuable service to the IAB over the last four years and his essential input in Altimo’s strategy development.  We are delighted to welcome The Right Honourable Mike Moore to the Advisory Board and we believe his wealth of international business and public policy experience will support our continuing development as a leading international business with a particular focus on emerging markets.”

Mike Moore said:  “I look forward to engagement on the exciting strategic opportunities and issues with Altimo, as a member of its distinguished International Advisory Board, having greatly enjoyed my involvement with the group’s extensive philanthropic activities over recent years, in my role as Chairman of the Altimo Foundation.”

The IAB’s current membership is listed in full below:

  •  Chairman: Sir Francis Richards, KCMG, CVO, DL, and former Her Majesty`s Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Gibraltar; he was previously Director of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) in Cheltenham from 1998 to April 2003;
  •  Dr. Peter Watson, President and CEO of the Dwight Group, former Chairman of the U.S. International Trade Commission, and non executive director of Fluor, the Fortune 500 company;
  • Sir Julian Horn-Smith, former Deputy Chief Executive of Vodafone Group plc and past Chairman of Sage Group plc;
  • Kurt Hellström, former President and CEO of Ericsson and currently on the board of the Swedish Trade Council;
  •  Jack Rosen, Chief Executive of Rosen Partners LLC and former U.S. State Department delegate to the Organization of the American States;
  • The Rt Hon Mike Moore, former Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Trade Minister and Deputy Finance Minister for New Zealand and past Director General of the World Trade Organization.

Altimo

Altimo, a leading private equity group, operating on some of the world's most desirable and potentially lucrative mobile telecommunications markets, was created in 2005 from Alfa Telecom, which itself was established in 2004 to hold the telecoms investments of the Alfa Group Consortium (Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri A.S., MegaFon and VimpelCom Ltd.). Those assets are in Russia, the CIS and other promising emerging markets.
