20 Nov 2003

Over nine months of 2003 Lisichansky refinery has decreased its harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 8441,1 tons. Compared to the same period in 2002 the level of emissions was reduced by almost 42%. As explained by Victor Ukhov, main specialist on environmental safety at "LINOS", the reduction was made possible after the implementation of a number of environmental projects. For instance, the first unit of free sulfur production facility was put into operation last June; refinery's combined heat power plant was switched from heavy fuel oil to fuel gas, the technological running modes of refinery facilities have been effectively adjusted. The quality of sewage waters and circulated water was significantly improved after the cleaning unit of catalytic cracking process condensate had been put into operation. "LINOS" Ltd. has spent 6618 thousand grivnas (1 USD is equal to 5,332 grivnas) over ten months of this year on environmental projects.
