Speaking together with Jean Lemierre, President of European Bank of Reconstruction and Development and Lindsay Owen-Jones, Chairman & CEO L'Oreal, at the panel on Europe in 2003: an Economic Progress Report Peter Aven noted that the Russia's trade with the EU will soon reach 46% of all Russian trade.
"Accumulated Foreign Direct Investment to Russia is yet $25 bln. And we expect a greater capital inflow after the TNK and British Petroleum deal in 2003," said Aven. According to Aven, despite a strong Euro, European producers are competing for final consumers, in particular in food and car producing sectors.
Forum speakers included also Peter Sutherland, Chairman, BP, Christine Lagarde, Chairman Baker & McKenzie, Jean Bernard Levy, Vivendi Universal.
One of the highlights of the Forum over the past three years was the Gala Dinner celebrating the Business Week's "Stars of Europe", which honors those individuals who have played a key role in Europe's economic system. Alfa Group Chairman Mikhail Fridman was named as one of the Stars of Europe in 2003 and was honored at this year's dinner.
