Robert Dudley Named Russia’s No. 1 Expatriate Manager in 2005 18 Nov 2005
Robert Dudley, TNK-BP President and CEO, has won the Aristos 2005 Award as “Russia’s No. 1 Expatriate Manager.” TNK-BP CEO received this special award from the Russian Managers’ Association (RMA) at the Russian Business Leadership Awards Ceremony.
Explaining why the award had been given to Dudley, the association cited the fact that Russian business has benefited greatly from the Western management traditions and expertise. Today, globalization of Russian management itself is occurring, as professional managers move to Russia from all over the world. This award stands as a tribute to expatriate managers most appreciated by the Russian business community.
Dudley vied in this competition with leaders of major Russian companies and Russian-based arms of several multinationals, such as Hermitage Capital, Rossiya Confectionery Plant, Danone, etc.
RMA awards went to winners of Russian Manager Professional Reputation Ratings, and executives who earned the highest appraisal from members of the special award academy.
The academy members are previous years’ Professional Reputation Ratings winners, renowned business leaders and Maîtres of national economy. Honorees were chosen by secret ballot of the academy members, with votes tallied by Deloitte, an independent audit company.
The awards, embodied in statuettes of “Aristos” (Greek for “The Best”), were handed to the winners by RMA President Dmitry Zelenin; President of Nikitsky Club of Academicians and Businessmen Sergey Kapitsa; Head of Russian Presidential Executive Office’s Presidential Experts’ Directorate Arkady Dvorkovich; First Deputy Chairman of Russian State Duma’s Committee for Lending Institutions and Financial markets Valery Zubov; Deputy General Director of Norilsky Nickel for Human Resources and Social Policy Olga Golodets; President of Mobile TeleSystems Vassily Sidorov; and Marketing and External Relationships Director of Ernst & Young Alexander Ivlev.
Over 500 guests attended the awards ceremony, including Russia’s leading top managers, heads of key federal and regional government authorities, representatives of international business and public organizations and foundations, editors of influential periodicals, and many others.
