Alfa Bank to sponsor Russian national volleyball team in XXVIII Olympic games in Athens

Giving priority to Russian sports development and support, Alfa Bank has become an official sponsor of the Russian Federation national volleyball team to make ready for the XXVIII Olympic Games scheduled for 14-29 August 2004 in Greece.

Russian volleyball team, a winner of many national sport awards, is famous for its Olympic traditions. There are strong, professional players in the team, - said Alexander Gafin, Alfa Bank's Member of the Board of Directors. It is our pleasure to support our volleyball players in making them ready for the Olympic games, and we believe that they would show bright results in this important contest.

Today, the National Volleyball Federation is one of the most distinguished in Russia. At the 2000 Olympic games the national men and women's teams won silver medals, in 2002, at the world championship the men's team took second place and the women's team became third-best.

Alfa Bank has always been following the principles of the big business social responsibility. The Bank is well known not only as one the leaders in the Russian banking community, but as a patron giving its sponsorship and charity support, - said Alexander Gafin.

Providing financial support to sport events - is one of the priorities of Alfa Bank. The Bank actively sponsored a variety of tournaments, cups and charity festivals in many Russian cities. In 2002-2004, Alfa Bank took part in the organization and support of the Kremlin Cup, Chess Tournament of the Century that took place between the best Russian and foreign players, President's High Riding School, Annual VIII Presidential Golf Tournament.
