X5 Announces New Appointment

Moscow, May 16, 2008 – X5 Retail Group N.V., Russia’s largest food retailer by sales volume, announced the appointment of Jacquot E.Q.M. Boelen to the post of General Director of the company’s supermarket format. He will assume the position on May 16, 2008. Currently, Mr. Boelen is the CEO of X5 Retail Group’s Ukrainian operations, and he will continue to serve in that position.

A.Yu. Tikhomirov, the present Operations Director of X5’s supermarket format, will be subordinate to Mr. Boelen.

Mr. Boelen will report to X5 Retail Group’s CEO Lev Khasis and COO Antonio Melo. 

Jacquot Boelen’s Biography:

Jacquot Boelen (48 years old) started his career in 1982 as a sales manager and then assistant store director and store director at the Dutch chain Vroom & Dreesmann. From 1996 until 1999, he was the Operating officer of Makro Cash & Carry (Metro AG) Poland. He then went on to work as the General Director of company Real (Metro AG) Poland until 2001.

In 2001, Mr. Boelen moved to Royal Ahold, one of the leading supermarket and hypermarket operators in Europe, where he worked as President and CEO of the company’s Polish business until 2003. In 2003, he became President and CEO of Ahold’s Central European operations. He has worked at the company as the CEO of X5 Retail Group Ukraine since 2007.
