Winners Are Going to London 16 Dec 2004
Russian industry needs badly the involvement of qualified young specialists in the operations. This does not mean the senior generation has become irrelevant. But the aggressive development of science and technology together with changes in the Russian economy require "fresh" manpower. Major companies long ago realized the necessity and importance of the personnel training and skills development. The number of people getting new professional knowledge and skills is increasing annually thanks to various forms of continuous professional education. Involvement of young specialists in scientific and technical problems settlement, development and implementation of innovations not only encourages work safety and efficiency, creative initiative growth and professional skills of modern employees, but also ensures stable future for companies and enterprises. In late November, the first scientific practical conference of TNK-BP young specialists was held as part of the corporate program related to youth involvement. Young people from all the regions of the Company's operations arrived at the President-Hotel in Moscow for three days. Orenburgye was represented by five employees of OAO Orenburgneft, five servicemen from ZAO RTsSU-ONAKO and two representatives of OAO Orsknefteorgsintez. The former graduates of higher educational institutions and technical colleges are keen on taking part in activities of the kind, as it is a brilliant opportunity for them to show what they are worth. According to Ruslan Bishtov, and electrician from the electrical department of OAO Orsknefteorgsintez, they all valued the fact that their work had been appreciated, they actually realized that "young specialists were the Company's future". To be more exact, the youths from producing, servicing, refining and marketing companies of Nizhnevartovsk, Orenburgye, Udmurtia, Ryazan, Nyagan were able not only to demonstrate the quality of their knowledge and share their innovative ideas with like-minded people, but also to have a shot at higher-level work. Projects that had previously been assessed as excellent at regional conferences were now presented by young specialists at the corporate conference in Moscow. Both in Moscow and at the regional level, not only the novelty of the project was taken into account. This year, the Company management focused mostly on positive economic impact of the projects application (we note here that the Orenburgneft joint-stock company in 2003 saved c. RUR 45 mln thanks to the projects submitted by the young specialists). The best ones were identified in seven sections among those who submitted topical and high-potential projects related to technology, environment, economy and information to review by the expert commission. The award included various certificates and special prizes, and the best performers were awarded a business trip to England aimed mainly at getting familiar with foreign practice, as well as enjoying beauty spots of the foggy Albion.
