Sir Francis Richards to Join Altimo’s International Advisory Board 13 Dec 2007
Altimo, the US $30 billion international telecoms investment group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sir Francis Richards to its International Advisory Board. Sir Francis will replace Sir Roderick Lyne, who is standing down by mutual consent owing to another appointment.
Sir Francis Richards, KCMG, CVO, DL, was Her Majesty's Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Gibraltar from 2003 to 2006. He was previously Director of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) in Cheltenham from 1998 to April 2003.
After an army career with the Royal Green Jackets, Sir Francis entered the Diplomatic Service, serving in Moscow, Vienna, New Delhi and Namibia and holding a number of senior posts at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. An Honorary Professor in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Birmingham, Sir Francis was appointed Director of its Centre for Studies in Security and Diplomacy in April 2007. He is also presently Chairman of the National Security Inspectorate, Chairman of the Bletchley Park Trust and a trustee of the Imperial War Museum 2007. He is also the author of a number of books and articles on science.
