Euromoney names Alfa Bank Best Bank in Russia 2002
12 Jul 2002

Euromoney said Alfa Bank could now be seen as the country's top universal bank. "It is Russia's largest privately owned bank, is profitable and holds the highest credit rating for a private financial company, something of an achievement after the financial meltdown in the banking sector in 1998, which is still affecting other competitors... When it comes to investment banking, Alfa Bank has also shown impressive strength this year. It was the second-largest arranger of rouble-denominated debt in 2001, was co-lead manager on Wimm-Bill-Dann's IPO and has a very strong M&A advisory team." Founded in 1990, Alfa Bank is Russia's largest private bank with more than 80 branches across Russia and subsidiaries in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, the United States and United Kingdom. Alfa Bank has also been voted Best Bank in Russia and Best Trade Finance Bank Russia by the Global Finance in 2002.

It provides a full range of banking services — corporate banking, retail banking, investment banking, asset management and trade finance. The Bank has 229 branches over nine time zones in Russia, Kazakhstan and the Netherlands and subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and the United States.
