Alfa Bank appoints new IT Director from Czech Bank
12 Nov 2001

Pilecký, 36, was formerly Chief Information Officer at Komercni Banka, a leading Czech bank, where he was responsible for implementing a new middleware and e-commerce system based on Sun iPlanet technology. His appointment is in line with Alfa BankÒs policy of recruiting key executives from outside Russia to bring the best available international expertise and business standards to the Bank. Pilecký, a Czech national, replaces Jim Hogan who is retiring. ÓI am delighted to be joining Alfa Bank as it prepares for further expansion both at home and abroad,Ô says Pilecký. Before working for Komercni Banka, Pilecký was Chief Information Officer at General Electric Czech & Slovak and previously Head of IT at Zivnostenska Bank. He is a graduate of the Czech Technical College Prague. Alfa Bank made record net profits of $77 million in 2000, up from $50 million in 1999. Total assets at 30 June 2001 were $2.1 billion, compared to $1.9 billion at the end of 2000 and shareholders equity was $188 million. Alfa Bank is a core holding of Alfa Group Consortium, which has evolved into one of RussiaÒs largest privately owned financial industrial groups since it started in 1988. Currently the Group, through its subsidiaries, has stakes in companies operating in finance, telecommunications, oil and gas, trading, insurance, supermarkets, food processing, glass and pharmaceuticals.
